Short answer: these three don't damage hair the same way, so they don't need the same fix. Hard water leaves calcium and magnesium behind as a rough film (fix: chelation with EDTA). "My hair is damaged from water" could mean three completely different things. Hard tap water, pool chlorine and ocean salt water each attack the hair through a different mechanism, and treating all three the same way rarely works. Here's how to spot which one you've got.
1. Hard water, mineral deposition (a coating problem)
What it is: water carrying a lot of dissolved calcium and magnesium, usually gauged at home as TDS (total dissolved solids), in ppm.
